We all makes choices related to housing and energy: a young couple who hesitate between heating their first home with a heat pump or gas, the elderly person who can no longer maintain her home due to declining health or the family on a tight budget who needs to repair the roof to avoid moisture seeping in. People make these trade-offs against a backdrop of complex regulations, a range of subsidies, practical and emotional considerations.
By 2050 the Belgian housing stock has to be climate neutral. To reach this goal, we need over a 100.000 renovations per year. Meanwhile studies show that 40% of house owners is not able to finance the energetic renovation of their home.
How can policies and services enable a diverse group of people to make sustainable choices? How can we stimulate collective initiatives and gain citizen support for ambitious renovation projects.

The Final Act
ARENA is a free one-evening conference for professionals. Twice a year we choose a topic that we find relevant in our society and where service design could play a role. We invite two speakers to share their expertise from different perspectives. Our previous editions covered topics such as digital transformation, accessibility, the future of work, human-centred organisations, education, etc.
An evening full of inspiration and action (some networking, food & drinks as a bonus). See you in the ARENA!
