About this 11th edition

Today we look at health holistically and include emotional and mental wellbeing. Unfortunately, our social workers, general practitioners, mental health facilities and hospitals are under a lot of pressure. Ideally, we can prevent certain risks; this is not just down to the individual but a community effort. And even when we need treatments, the experience can still be vastly improved. We believe service design can help us to design with health in mind from prevention, treatment to follow-up.

John Mortimer Service Designer & Business Consultant working on Buurtzorg

John co-designs complex services with senior management. Johns approach focuses on person centered systems thinking, Human Learning Systems. He runs workshops, contributes to advising, research and publications on transformation.

Pleuntje Jellema Postdoc researcher, KU Leuven, Dept. of Architecture, Research[x]Design group

Pleuntje has a background in human geography and interior architecture, and a PhD in Architecture from KU Leuven. Her research focused on how the experience of people affected by cancer can inform human-centred design of cancer care facilities.
